It was just today that I discovered how difficult it was to comprehend who am I? Well.. its not how you feel it is,not that I'm having difficulties in understanding this question but, defining it is the biggest challenge I've felt in a very long time.
Today, I have learnt that I need to understand who am I in order to grow-mentally and holistically. So when my mentor asked me to define this ambiguous question, I turned on to the philosophical side.. Of course it did make sense to me but not everyone would be able to comprehend that. I then realized that I needed a quick reality check to understand who I actually was! Before answering this question let me ask you, have you ever thought of who you actually are? If you are feeling slightly lost as to what to say, then don't worry you are no different! that's exactly how I felt..
It is so surprising how certain things govern our lives and that we assume defines us. but I'm sorry to say that its just not about that.. we need to understand who we actually are..
So who are we? If we go by what the famous psychologist Carl Rogers says, we always define ourselves by our Ideal Selves(the person we would want to be) than accept who we actually are, Our Real Selves. Thus, I feel that each of us have certain beliefs from where we stem and these beliefs in turn become our guiding principles to understand our selves.
Therefore I believe that Ive been strong guided by my beliefs and that's whats made me who I am.. Wow!to many believes in one sentence isn't it :)When you are ready to understand these governing principles and beliefs, you have answered a part of the most difficult question.
The next part is actually working and implementation on these believes. Then you stay more focused because then you know your strengths, weakness and fears. well, what is life without all this..
There is no scientific formula to follow this, it is best suited when one understands his/her alchemy and makes their own formulae. Hence I believe that it is very important for most of us individuals to answer this primary question-Who am I?
